Brazzil Brazil is my world and my passion. It brings me peace every time I lie down to think. How come you write so many bad things on Brazil? Brazil has a lot to offer. Give
it a chance!
Not Funny at All
"In brief, Brazil is a country well prepared to deal with terrorism" Is this what you call a joke? ("Why Terror Won't Bloom Here" -
http://www.brazzil.com/p06nov01.htm) I am a 21-year-old female, living in New York, I go to school in the city and the twin towers are blocks away from me. I find this "humor" insulting as well as disrespectful
to those who lost their lives. There is no joke about people who lost their mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers. Maybe you should pay a visit to all the graves that have been
freshly made these past few months. Would that be funny? Sadly, you would probably think so. This magazine obviously has no respect for other human life.
Thank you for your wonderful website. I am an American who met a BEAUTIFUL family from Brazil. Our kids go to the same school. I've never met people who (and I
mean the entire family) made "ME" feel like family. They are just like you described in your website. They are very warm people. I feel as though my friend is my sister. Now I
see why when I am invited to lunch it's not sandwiches, but a full course meal. (smile)
I think it is horrible that the majority in Brazil is Black but there are no black executives or black actors, and actresses. I'm ashamed that the black people in Brazil
have not screamed at this issue. I come from a middle-class black family in California and yes we have our issues but never this bad.
The whites of Brazil should be ashamed of themselves. I have seen shows from Brazil that still show blacks as slaves and maids. This is horrible! What are the rich
black Brazilian people doing? Please stand up against this issue, this 2002! I am proud to be black and I would never put up with this!
I am a black female senior in high school. Last summer I spent six weeks in Rio as an exchange student and when I returned home I became interested in race
relations in Brazil, particularly when relating to women. I have read numerous articles about this on your website and they have been very helpful.
Over the next few months I have to write a senior thesis and I am considering focusing on this topic. I would like to get in contact via email with some black
students (especially females) my age in Brazil if possible to exchange ideas, thoughts, experiences etc. Do you have any suggestions or ideas on how I would be able to do this?
Brazil is a versatile and daring country. The fashion and trends that young people explore in Brazil are unconventional compared to their American counterparts.
For example, the Brazilian bikini wax talked about during HBO's sitcom
Sex and the City has reached the popular level in American culture. Also, many current musicians
have expressed a distinct Brazilian influence on their own personal sound.
Readers of Brazzil are interested in entertaining pieces highlighting Brazilian influences on popular culture. An article depicting the effects the culture of Brazil has
on our entertainment, fashion and trends would add an interesting twist to serious articles. Thank you for your time.
Dear Bruce, I'm writing to thank you for all your great Brazilian music coverage in
Brazzil. I'm a freelance music writer based in New York, and just got back from
Brazil where I covered Carnaval in Bahia for NPR, and conducted other research in Rio. I felt fortunate to find so much substantive information online at
Brazzil.comdefinitely informed me for the job, especially for the impressionism of an interview with Carlinhos Brown. Please let me know if you ever happen to play in New York. I'd love to
hear you.
I'm from Brazil and from Vitória, state of Espírito Santo and I really think that you don't know anything about my state (www.brazzil.com/traapr01.htm). "Not too
inspiring Espírito Santo"? What are you talking about?" A place without much interest to the traveler?" Oh my God! You really don't know anything about it. Maybe you were
expecting a lot from Espírito Santo and you didn't find anything interesting.
I don't know where you come from, but you don't know
bulhufas about natural beauty. Every city in the state has its own characteristics, not very much appreciated
by you of course. The way you say it, it means that the states that surround us are much better than us. I love Rio, Minas and Bahia, I love all the states in Brazil, and you
sound like Espírito Santo is there for a mere coincidence of the destiny. Outrageous, I feel that I have to say something.
When people ask me where I'm from, they are so enchanted by my city and state, not just Brazilian people but also from other nationalities. The say that the city is
so bright, the people, the food, everything. Now if you are from a First World country, the likelihood of you being capitalist is 100 percent.
I've lived in the USA, and people only think about themselves, they are born and the doctor gives the new baby a manual, "How to be an American." They are all
the same, it is like a cloned population. People don't know the meaning of really enjoying life.
In Espírito Santo, you are a free person, you can do whatever you want, and you don't need much to have fun, or have the greatest time of your life. Now in your
perfect world, everything that ES has to offer doesn't suit your needs, you have issues.
At the same time, you say good things about it, you turn and say a bad thing. Make up your mind, or it's good or not. For sure, if you were talking about Rio or Bahia,
you would never mention about "how to get a bus to go to Vitória," and in your article you keep giving directions on how to go to this place or that place.
Thanks for the positive-negative-confusing-propaganda. People like you, I don't need in my state. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to the beach and have fun with
my friends, and later, who knows, eat a muqueca
capixaba. Oh, I forgot, I can't go to the water, chemicals, oohh. Have a good life.
"Without much to interest the traveler." PLEASE "The coastline away from Vitória is clean but not particularly pretty." You need to know more about my state, a lot of
foreign people live here, did you know that? Including my sister-in-law who happens to be... guess what? BRITISH. "In all fairness, Espírito Santo does have some attractions,
humble as they may be" GIVE ME A BREAK. Good bye. And why Brasil with two Zs? Disrespect
I was reading "The Finest Art" from Jean Pinner and it is a great article. It was like hearing the voice of all those artists who never had the opportunity of showing
their
art. It is the reality of every place (mine is Puerto Rico). In my case I'm not an artist, but an art lover and it was refreshing reading that people of my generation have the
same concerns as some of us. Congrats for a great article!
Sorry if my English is a little rusty. I'd like to start by saying that since I first heard a song with a
bossa-nova rhythm, I was really astounded
by its beautiful melody and sound. My mom is responsible for my interest in bossa nova, my mom always liked
bossa nova music, Flora Purim, Sting, Antônio Carlos Jobim,
and many others.
I'm not really familiar with the names, but I can recognize the music very well, "The Girl from Ipanema", "Desafinado", "Insensatez", and many others.
The CD Red Hot+Rio is one of my favorite. Brazil is blessed with its music and beautiful nature all around, there are many things I want to say about your country that I like, but you already
know how beautiful it is.
I read the article "Short Takes" by Jorge da Silva on
www.brazzil.com/notdec96.htm and "wow" it opened my eyes even more. It's really amazing. I didn't know that
Money Mark from the Beasty Boys made the song "Use Your Head." Now I have a different perspective of him. I'm not really into Beasty Boys, but what Money Mark did on "Use
Your Head" is amazing.
Well, I hope you guys read this message I'm sending, just so you know that even in Mexico you're having an impact. I'm doing the best I can to spread the word
about this beautiful music from Brazil.
I am interested in the one year subscription for this mag. How do you recommend payment? Your form does not provide an area for CC. Perhaps mailing cash is
"the ticket".
I am pondering moving to Brazil "Rio", as a friend moved there a few months ago and a visit in December made a fairly huge impression on me. I understand that
there are many opportunities for native English speakers, even those with no grasp of Portuguese, to gain employment teaching English in Brazil. Is this so?
I have just returned from two weeks (not long enough) in Brazil and AMO BRASIL! Never have I traveled to a country with so much emotion, happiness and people
who have a love for life. My body is in Canada but my head is in Brazil.
I will be moving to Vancouver in May and would dearly love to meet some Brazilians, to learn to speak Portuguese better and to learn the dances of Brazil. Please
send me some information on who I should contact in Vancouver. Brazil has opened up a new world to me and I want to explore it.
I really enjoyed the highly informative article "Getting a Piece of Brazil" (www.brazzil.com/ecojan02.htm). It mentions that it is taken from a book. Can you tell me
where I could obtain a copy of this book?
I'm from Azerbaijan. I'm sales manager in a food company called Tural, which is located in Baku, Azerbaijan. We buy chicken and chicken parts from Turkey,
USA and another countries for 10 years. We would like to cooperate with Brazilian food companies and buy chicken, ground meat, chicken skin, but we couldn't find an email
or links with chicken-poultry in Brazil. We want to cooperate with food companies in your country and buy chicken, sausage. Please help me find Brazilian food company's
site and e-mail. Please send my letter to whomever can help me with more information.
I am seriously looking into visiting Alagoas. After reading this article, I am not sure that tourists are safe there. Is Fortaleza a much safer place to travel? I am looking
for unspoiled beaches and cities to investigate living a few months out of the year. Any information you can offer is greatly appreciated.
I'm seeking TV shows and Music Videos from Brazil to air in NYC and Florida. I'm a TV producer in Florida and I will be joining with Cable and Network TV stations
to buy 30 minute and 1 hour timeslots to air Brazil TV shows. Can you help with contact numbers to acquire shows?
I have a site which may be appropriate for your links page: The Online Guide to Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. The URL is
http://www.bahia-online.net
Hello! I read your article (http://www.brazzil.com/rpdoct00.htm), and it sounds really cool! Can you tell me how I can get some
video copies of the Brazilian shows
that you mentioned. I too must confess that Brazilian girls with big butts totally rule the world! Can you help me out with information about looking for movies from Brazil from
the 70's, 80's, 90's, and now? Brazilian girls with big butts in skimpy bikinis is all I'm interested in... Can you mail me back with some solutions? Thank you. PSBrazilian
girls buttocks will A-L-W-A-Y-S be kings!
I need information of the street children of Brazil because I have to do a report of this in my class. I will appreciate any information you can give. How can I obtain a video?
Dear, Bruce Gilman, ever since reading your André Mehmari review in Brazzil I have been intrigued by this guy and I would like to listen to his recordings. Where
can I buy his CD's? Is there any new releases since the interview? And by the way, I really enjoy your interviews. They bring to our attention artists that most people
wouldn't normally hear of.
Dear Daniella, thanks for introducing me to Guinga. Ever since joining a samba band in Portland my passion for music has been renewed. Even jazz was getting
boring. And Brazzil's music reviews are a big help in finding artists that we don't hear about in the mainstream. Do you have any suggestions on finding other Brazilian
musicians or groups that aren't well known? Today I am trying to find where to buy recordings of André Mehmari. Do you have any ideas? Oh, yeah, check out our website
http://www.lionsofbatucada.com
Hi, Mrs Daniella Thompson, I am very impressed with your work about Brazilian music, specifically about Guinga. Yesterday, Guinga told me about you and I saw
your site this morning. This is amazing, so strong and brilliant. I am very proud of your work, really, really, really. I told this to my friends here at O GLOBO. I am writing a book
about him, that will be released in May. Congratulations.
I'm part of a team in the process of making a documentary about the 1958 World Cup, how Pelé scored the only goal against the Welsh team and knocked them out
of the World cup and I was wondering if you and your team could help us. We are looking for local footage, interviews that may have taken place with any footballers etc...
at the time. Any help you can offer us will be gratefully received.
I am bringing a group of African Americans like myself to Brazil. We are extremely interested in the Afro-Brazilian history, culture and contributions. Our first stop will
be Salvador and then on to Rio. We really want to see the real Brazil.
I have written a poem 'Worldcup Football'. Since this poem deals with football I would like to get it
translated into Portuguese, thus the people of Brazil can enjoy this
poem, where football is a way of life. I humbly request you to translate this poem into Portuguese and publish it in your
prestigious magazine. Hope you would consider my
request. Wishing all the best to you and to the people of Brazil.

We placed your link in our Brazil USA Directory in our web site (http://www.Creubsj.com). It would be nice if you could reciprocate. Our url is provided above. If for
any reason you are not interested, we will delete your link at a later time.
Just a suggestion to your site: In Houston, Texas, there is a cool non-profit Brazilian association that rocks! Check their website at:

Eu gostaria de dividir com vocês minha experiência com o serviço dos Correios do Brasil. Enviei, há mais de um mês, uma carta devidamente registrada, destinada
a meu advogado no Brasil.

I hear them singing songs of joy
I feel the happiness in the air
And thought what should have come on earth?
It is celebration and jubilation
The east and west are waiting
Their hands joined in friendship knot
Asians, Africans, Europeans and Americans
All feel the excitement same
Its thought makes their dream endless
And gives them tears of joy
It lifts their spirits high
And helps them forget pain
It gives them a boost to live
It's the carnival of humanity
It's the festival of masses
It's the world cup football
It comes every four years
Making us jump with joy
Showing us a ray of hope
And giving us a time to celebrate
It's a world cup football
It's the carnival of humanity
